Are you Communicating with your customers?
A few newsletters ago we talked about what you could be doing to communicate more with your customers. I just want to touch on this point again. A lot of small business think that if they send an email to their current or old customers that they are annoying them. We all hate the unsolicited email, right?
But here’s the thing. If you have already had dealings with a customer no matter how long ago it was, then is that unsolicited? I’m not so sure.
If you have had dealings with someone then you are entitled to communicate with them again. It could be as simple as letting them know something is new or changed with the product. So, have a look at your old customer lists and start to think about how you can have some form of meaningful engagement with them. You never know they just might want to talk to you again.
Give it a try!
How to work out your Marketing Budget.
The marketing budget is an important part of the process. Without knowing what you are going to spend will, believe or not, make you spend more. It’s like running a project without knowing how much you need to spend. A lot of companies will know exactly how much they will spend on new product development or how much the staff will be paid. But when it comes to marketing they really are not sure on what they need to spend. In this chapter we will go through the consequences of not having a marketing budget and how to create one. Even if you don’t have that much to spend.
- Define Your Goals – What do you want to achieve
- Focus On your Strengths – If you are good or profitable at something then focus on that to gain extra business and funds
- Look at your Competition – See what others are doing. Are they on social media or Google ads?
- Start small and build – You don’t have to spend big at the start, build funds and confidence
- If you already have a small budget – Track that spend to see what is working and was isn’t
In following these steps you can start to understand what you can do and how much you need to spend.
