Small business & Marketing Tips newsletter 20th September 2018
The psychology behind the Online review.
Are you screaming to be reviewed Online?
A lot of companies think that they live and die on the reviews that they get. So, I thought I would talk about some of the psychology behind the review. Why is this so important? And what do you do about them?
People do read reviews
Reviews are a good way for other customers to find out about your business, so they are important. The point system can destroy you if you don’t watch them.
The most important thing is to know your brand
If you know your brand and have a strong one it will outweigh any review system. Your customers will swear by you and will keep coming back. So, encourage them to take the time to give a review of their experience. Ask them to make comments and not just a rating.
If a potential buyer doesn’t know the full story of why you are in business, then they are only getting half of the story.
Let me explain. Do you ever get those emails talking about how the sender can get you number one on Google? This is an unsolicited annoying email that doesn’t really give any information about who the company is or why they are trying to sell you something. For all you know they could be a scammer (and there’s a good chance that they are). You can’t decide on using their service because you don’t know what is in it for them.
What they should do is:
• Introduce themselves to you
• Give a brief explanation of why they do what they do
• Give you an understanding of why they are contacting
• Start to build a relationship
You will start to understand that they are doing what they do because they want to help or advise or something that triggers something in you – a sense of trust or belief.
A recap of last week’s training where we talked about “Building a new audience for your business”. We found about how a small hotel in the tiny seaside town of Portreath, Cornwall created an interesting way to keep the place packed with people.
You can read more about that here.
Good News Story…
As a part of our content marketing that we do for our clients, we conducted an interview with a staff member of their organisation. Only to find out what a remarkable story it is.
The company is Skillbuild Training in Albury. They do Solar training and other Electrical trades accreditation Courses.
In the interview Diggaj Regmi, System design and training assistant gave us an insight into the journey that he has taken to get here. It’s a story about a little boy who grew up in a remote village in Nepal, his first encounter with electricity and a fascination that will take him all over the world.
Got an idea or a great business building tip?
